Judges remands man for breaching bail conditions

A judge at Derry Magistrate's Court said today that people had to understand that a final warning meant a final warning.
District Judge Ted Magill was speaking during the case involving Jason Murphy (32) of Dennet Gardens in Derry who was charged with breaching his bail.
The court heard that police were called by the defendant who claimed he had been assaulted and had to take refuge in an off licence.
When police attended it was realised that Murphy was outside his curfew and also had two cans of beer in his pockets again in breach of his bail.
Defence counsel Stephen Chapman said that it was 'unfortunate' circumstances and his client was clearly in breach of his bail.
Judge Magill said that Murphy had breached his bail in October and had received a final warning.
He said that the defendant had 98 previous convictions and been given a clear warning.
He refused bail and remanded the accused in custody to appear again on December 13.
