Knife crime in Magherafelt: Chinese Takeaway the second robbery target in a week
An attempted robbery has taken place in Magherafelt.
The Golden Gate Chinese Takeaway on Broad Street was targeted in the early hours of Sunday morning, when a male armed with a knife entered the premises.
It is understood that the incident happened shortly before 1am.
The perpetrator demanded money but fled empty handed when a staff member shouted for assistance.
This incident comes just a week after a young female member of staff was left terrified on Saturday, January 18 when a man armed with a knife entered a convenience store on King Street shortly after 8pm.
A young girl was also left badly shaken when a similar incident occurred on Tuesday, January 14 at a petrol station in the Church Street area of the town.
A police spokesperson confirmed last night that they had made no arrests in relation to any of the armed robberies.
The spokesperson said: “Investigations are continuing and while there is no definitive link between the incidents, it is not been ruled out. No one has been arrested at this stage.”
