Limavady man jailed for five months for subjecting man to 'unmerciful beating'
A Limavady man has been jailed for five months after being convicted of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
35 year-old Stephen James Mullan of of Kennaught Terrace appeared before Limavady Magistrates Court this morning.
The court heard that on June 18, last at 9.30pm, Mullan saw a man on the street and said ‘I don’t like you’, and proceeded to punch him four or five times.
The court heard the injured party suffered injuries to his nose and face.
A solicitor for the defence told the court that Mullan fully accepted he shouldn’t have done it.
When sentencing Mullan, District Judge Liam McNally said he had a ‘bad’ record and that he had subjected the injured party to an ‘unmerciful beating.’
“You punched him, you bit him and you stamped on him,” said Judge McNally.
