Man appears in Derry court charged with rape of woman

A 37-year-old man was released on bail when he appeared at Derry Magistrates Court today charged with the rape of a woman in the city over two years ago..

Jason Robert William Stewart, whose address on court papers was given as Duke Street, was also faced a charge of sexual assault.

The offences are alleged to have occurred on 11 January 2014.

He was remanded on his own bail of £500 to appear at Derry Crown court for arraignment on 24 August for arraignment.

Part of his bail conditions is that he must reside at an address in Cookstown and have no contact, directly or indirectly, with the alleged injured party or Crown witnesses.
