A man has been jailed at Derry Magistrates Court for disorderly behaviour and criminal damage in an incident in the city centre that was captured on social media.
Dean Michael Bryans (37) of Dacre Terrace in Derry was charged with the offences that took place on May 6 last year.
Police were initially called to a branch Halifax where there were reports of a male trying to break in with a fire extinguisher.
Bryans was later spotted on CCTV. Police approached him and he became aggressive as they arrested him.
He told them that he had intended to return the fire extinguisher to the B&B he'd stolen it from.
Defence Barrister Stephen Chapman said that Bryan had a history of mental health issues and had been in custody since the incident took place.
He was sentenced to eight months in custody.
