Kevin Barry McIntyre (31) of Miller Street in Derry is charged with two counts of improper use of the electronic communications network

The case against a Derry man charged in connection with racist messages about the Mayor of the city has been adjourned for two weeks so he can give his attitude to the charges.

Kevin Barry McIntyre (31) of Miller Street in Derry is charged with two counts of improper use of the electronic communications network involving messages of a menacing nature on May 2 and May 4 this year.

The messages related to the Mayor of Derry and Strabane Lillian Seenoi-Barr who is the first black Mayor in the North.

At today's hearing a prosecutor said that a decision had been taken that the case would be heard in the Magistrate's Court.

Defence solicitor Paddy MacDermott said he would require two weeks for his client's attitude.

The case was adjourned until October 16. McIntyre is currently on bail.
