The new sensory garden was created thanks to funding raised by The Friends of St Colmcille’s
The Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Councillor Grace Uí Niallais has officially opened a new Sensory Garden at St. Colmcille's Primary School & Nursery Unit in Claudy.
Pupils, Sean and Ceala, were on hand to help with the official opening, which was also attended by school principal Miss Susan Deighan and Gina Healy and Martina Quinn from The Friends of St Colmcille’s Primary School.
Members of The Friends of St Colmcille’s group raised the funding to create the garden, which is a very welcome addition to the school.
During the official opening the Mayor also helped to plant oak trees grown from acorns collected by the children at the school.
The acorns were nurtured by school caretaker James Hasson.
