McKeever appointed on board of Derry's Port and Harbour Commissioners

Derry city SDLP councillor Jim McKeever has been appointed to the board of the board of the city’s Port and Harbour Commissioners
The appointment follows the recent resignation of Cllr McKeever’s party colleague Gerard Diver following his taking up the SDLP MLA seat left vacant by Pat Ramsey who stepped down from Stormont on health grounds.
Port and Harbour Commissioners is responsible for operating, maintaining and improving Londonderry Port.
Cllr McKeever (pictured) was nominated by Derry City and Strabane District Council and appointed following a selection process.
The appointment will take effect from Monday next and will last for as long as the appointee remains on the Council, up to a maximum of four years.
Announcing Cllr McKeever’s appointment Michelle McIlveen said she was confident his experience and knowledge of local issues would add “significant value” to the work of the Port in its ongoing development and operating to the highest standards.
She added: “I would also thank Councillor Diver for his work and wish him every success in the future.”.
