Sinn Féin MLA Maeve McLaughlin has said Health Minister Simon Hamilton will come before the health committee on Wednesday next to explain proposed major changes to the health service.

The Foyle MLA, chairperson of the Stormont Health Committee, invited the Minister to come before the committee to explain his proposals and provide more detail about the plans.

Ms McLaughlin (pictured) said: "The Minister has now confirmed that he will come to the committee on Wednesday and take questions from MLAs on the proposals.

"There is no doubt that major change is required in the health service and I welcome any plans to make the service better for patients and frontline staff.”

Ms McLaughlin concluded: "I look forward to the minister's appearance at the committee and hope he can provide the required detail about the planned changes."
