Lisaghmore Avenue and Windridge Drive are set to have their roads resurfaced this year, the Department for Infrastructure has said.

A representative confirmed the works along with several other resurfacing projects at Derry and Strabane Council's Special Environment & Regeneration Committee on 19 October.

Bluebell Hill Gardens, Brandywell Road, Carrakeel Drive, Lyndhurst Road, Windridge Drive and Lisaghmore Avenue are planned to have their roads and footpaths resurfaced this financial year.

Councillor Martin Reilly said he was glad to see the works discussed but that there isn't much time left to get around to them.

“In relation to the Waterside as well I’m glad to see the resurfacing, the likes of Lisaghmore having long awaited its carriageway improvements and resurfacing,” the SDLP councillor said.

“I see that they’re down for the planned works in the financial year. I’m conscious that we’re nearly through most of this financial year with a few months to go until the end of March. So have we any indication as to when residents in that area can expect that work to be completed?”

DfI representative Daniel Healy said the project’s delivery ultimately depends on a number of factors.

“With regards to the delivery of the resurfacing scheme in the Waterside and Lisaghmore, that will depend on our contractors, resources and the programming and the traffic management,” he said.

However, another DfI representative, Sam Young, said they expect to see the work started in December.

“We're expected to commence the scheme at Lisaghmore and Windridge Drive prior to Christmas,” Mr Young said.
