Names of murdered Palestinian broadcast in Derry's Guildhall Square.
Speaking to Derry News, Catherine Hutton who chairs the group said: “We broadcast just a few thousand of the names of children aged 0 to 17 years old, murdered in Gaza by Israel using US bombs and munitions.
“We have recorded the reading of 4,400 names. The total is now approximately 14,850.
“These children are not just numbers. They have names, parents, brothers, sisters, grandparents, aunts, uncles.
“Generations have been wiped off the Gaza population registry. We honour them by saying their names aloud, giving them space to be heard. To grieve for the loss of each human life destroyed in this unending Genocide in Gaza,” said Catherine.
‘Palestinian Land Day’ or ‘Yom al-Ard’ takes place annually in Palestine to commemorate the events on March 30, 1976, when six Palestinians were killed and more than 100 were injured by Israeli forces - during protests against the Israeli confiscation of Palestinian land.
As part of its state policy to Judaise Galilee, Israel ordered the confiscation of 4,942 acres of land belonging to Palestinian citizens of Israel in Galilee.
‘Palestinian Land Day’ is marked by Palestinians inside and outside Israel and across the occupied territory who hold protests and vigils and plant olive trees to reaffirm their connection to the land.
