Police warn of further 'proactive' road safety operations

Police have warned they will carry further “proactive” patrols in Co Derry to deter what they have described as “anti-social” and dangerous driving.
It follows the latest road safety operation in and around the Straw and Draperstown areas by Magherafelt Neighbourhood Policing officers.
Three motorists were given advice and warnings and a discretionary disposal was issued for a defective tyre.
A police spokesperson said officers were also made aware of someone driving dangerously on a scrambler in and around the area.
The spokesperson added; “Police would ask parents to be aware of where scramblers are being ridden and ensure those using a scrambler are wearing the correct protective equipment.”
It followed a similar operation (pictured) in Magherafelt last week.
A police spokesperson said: “We are committed to keeping our roads safe, and will be conducting further proactive patrols in the area to deter anti-social driving and dangerous driving.”
