SDLP East Derry Assembly candidate, John Dallat has spoken of his devastation after posters stating ‘Don’t let Dallat fill his wallet’ appeared in Greysteel.

The posters, which also state: ‘End greed and corruption now’ have been erected onto telegraph poles along the main Clooney Road between Derry and Ballykelly.

Speaking this afternoon, Mr Dallat told Derrynow.com that he had ‘nothing to say’ to those responsible for erecting the signs. “This is my fourteenth election spanning a 39 year political career. Many of those years were extremely difficult. I have lived in a house with bullet proof glass, under police protection. Now, to become a figure of ridicule is very disappointing. “It is devastating for me and for my family,” he said.

Sinn Féin's Sean McGlinchey has also spoken out to condemn the incident.
