Preliminary Inquiry to be held for man accused of attempting to murder a police officer in Derry

A preliminary inquiry date has been fixed for August in the case of a man accused of attempting to murder a PSNI officer in Derry.

Sean McVeigh, 36, of Victoria Street in Lurgan, is charged with attempted murder and possession of explosives with intent to danger life.

He is alleged to have placed an explosive device under a police officer's car in Glenrandel, Eglinton in Derry on June 18, 2015.

McVeigh has been in custody for over a year.

The court heard the case has been delayed to allow time for the Public Prosecution Service to contact ‘available witnesses’.

A P.I. date has now been set for August 30 and 31, with a review date beforehand on June 5.
