Probation for Derry woman who admitted what a judge described as 'a nasty offence'

Kirsty Temple (18) of Northland Road in Derry admitted two charges of assault on police and a charge of disorderly behaviour on May 7
A woman who admitted what a judge described as 'a nasty offence' has been given probation at Derry Magistrate's Court.
Kirsty Temple (18) of Northland Road in Derry admitted two charges of assault on police and a charge of disorderly behaviour on May 7.
The court heard that police were called to a report of a female being assaulted by another female outside a fast food outlet on the Strand Road.
They spoke to Temple who was described as being 'upset and highly intoxicated'.
When police were speaking to her Temple ran off but returned and became 'very irate' and started shouting and charged a door with her shoulder.
Temple was arrested and while in the police vehicle she kicked out and threatened an officer.
While an officer tried to grip the handcuffs Temple dug her nails in breaking skin.
Defence counsel Stephen Chapman said that his client had co-operated with the Youth Justice Agency and was suitable for probation.
Temple was given 12 months probation and warned about her future conduct.
