Probation order imposed on Derry man who assaulted his two sisters

Court hears 34-year-old Gary Curley faces an 18-month supervision order to address underlying personal difficulties.
A man has been sentenced to probation for assaulting his two sisters.
Gary Curley (34) of Benevenagh Gardens in Derry admitted two assaults that occurred on March 8 this year.
The court heard that around 7pm police received a report of a domestic incident and the reporting person said the defendant, her brother, had assaulted her and her sister.
Curly had come in heavily intoxicated and began throwing fridge magnets at one of the woman and grabbed the other one by the face.
Defence solicitor Paddy MacDermott said that his client would accept the recommendation in the pre-sentence report for probation.
He said he recognised that probation was 'not the easy option.'
District Judge Ted Magill said Curley had difficulties that needed to addressed.
He imposed an 18 month probation order.
