Proposed dualling scheme for Derry to Dungiven road to be split into 'three smaller, manageable sections'

The A6 scheme is to be split into three smaller, manageable sections, according to East Derry MLA John Dallat.

DRD Minister Danny Kennedy revealed the news after Mr Dallat asked him for his assessment of the benefits of dividing the A6 project, including the decoupling of the bypass at Dungiven.

Speaking this afternoon, Mr Dallat said: “In his response, the Minister indicated that the project was now divided into three sections and the business case is now ready for submission for funding.”

Mr Dallat reminded the Minister that the need for a bypass was under consideration for 50 years, and priority is needed to alleviate the serious pollution and congestion at Dungiven, which has existed for too long.
