£20,000 boost for Derry charities as local firm celebrates its 20th anniversary
One of Northern Ireland’s largest private sector employers has rounded off a year of celebration marking two decades of commitment to Derry.
During 2013, Seagate marked its first twenty years at Springtown with a programme of celebrations, which included a Charity Dinner supported by the company’s suppliers that raised more than £88,000 for NSPCC Foyle and Foyle Hospice; a weekend of Seagate employee Family Fun Days at the Venue; and a children’s art competition involving local schools.
Throughout the year of celebration, Seagate employees were also encouraged to nominate charities close to their hearts, giving them the opportunity to be included in a monthly charity draw.
Each month since March 2013—the month in which construction of the Seagate facility began back in 1993—two charities have been randomly selected from the nominations to receive a £1,000 share of a £20,000 sum, set aside by the company to recognise the vital services that these organisations provide in the local community.
