River Faughan bursts its bank - Derry on flood alert

The Ardmore area of Derry is on flood alert after the River Faughan burst its banks.

Part of the Glenshane Road is flooded as are parts of Ardmore Road and Milltown Crescent.

The old Letterkenny Road close to its junction with Lone Moor Road is also flooded.

The flooding is bringing yet more chaos to the city's roads - approach roads to Craigavon Bridge are gridlocked following the closure of Foyle Bridge at breakfast time this morning due to the high winds blown in by Storm Rachel.

With heavy rain and melted snow resulting in surface water on many roads, motorists are being urged to show extra caution.
