Safety bollards to be installed on Rosemount Avenue in Derry
Safety bollards are to be installed on busy section of Rosemount Avenue in Derry.
Sinn Féin Councillor Mickey Cooper (pictured above) said the move follows safety concerns for pedestrians.
He said “The problems around traffic along this section of Park Avenue and Rosemount Avenue have been well versed over recent years.
"In this instance there was a particular problem when there was a bottleneck of traffic that some drivers were mounting the footpath.
"I was contacted by a number of local residents with concerns for the safety of pedestrians as this is a very busy street."
Cllr Cooper said DRD Road Service hadnow agreed to put in a number of bollards on a small section of the street.
He concluded: "It’s hoped that this will reduce any potential dangers to pedestrians."
