Met Eireann forecast first winter weather event of season as 'Ireland on verge of something big'

One weather expert said that they were currently monitoring an upcoming weather event for Ireland that could be noteworthy
Met Eireann has confirmed that temperatures will go to as low as -1C on Monday night in the first real signs of winter this season.
Frost will be visible across Ireland every day this week and into the weekend according to the National Weather Forecaster as colder temperatures take a hold of the country with counties hitting zero again on Tuesday night.
In another big twist for Ireland, there is no rain forecast at all over the next seven days, something which hasn’t been seen since the peak summer mini-heatwave.
This weather forecast has been coupled with a well-known amateur forecaster’s prediction that Ireland is “on the verge of something big” weather wise over the next two weeks.
Kenneth from Donegal Weather Channel, which has over 200,000 followers online said: “Interesting model runs from the GFS model over the past 24 hours showing a blocking high over Greenland allowing colder air to push down across Ireland over the second week of November. This sort of setup would bring winter showers of sleet and snow into the northern half of Ireland with colder nights below 0C.
“At the moment there is not much response from the other models but with the Sudden Stratospheric warming event looking more likely to take place next week, this would also raise eyebrows as it can be up to a 10 days to 2 weeks when we see the impact from a SSW at ground level.
“Most certainly one to keep eye on and really something we don't really want to see considering the price of home heating oil. It would also go against the normal pattern of years when there have been strong El Niño events when you would typically get a wetter and windier start to winter and a higher chance of something colder at the end of Winter into early spring when the El Niño starts to weaken.
“I will monitor and update you over the coming days particularly if we see your models hinting at something similar. It's also worth to note this is not set in stone but it's something I think is good to share with everyone.”
In their overview of the week ahead, Met Eireann said: “High pressure will continue to be in control of our weather for the rest of the week and indeed probably the weekend too, so it'll be settled and largely dry, with just some well scattered showers. The best of the sunshine is likely early in the period, while it'll be bit cloudier through the second half of the week. There'll be a bit more of an easterly breeze too through the second half of the week, helping to limit fog and frost. Into the weekend the winds may ease light again, so probably a bit colder, with more in the way of fog and frost possible once again.”
