Shiels rules out Irish League players for Derry as they are 'out of our range'

Derry City boss Kenny Shiels is still on the hunt for new faces to boost his squad ahead of the new Airtricity League Premier Division season that begins in just over four week’s time – but he’s unlikely to see the radar picking out anyone from the Irish League. “We do not go for Irish League players, they are out of our range,” he commented. Finance would appear to be the chief reason, although travel considerations could be a factor for some. So far Shiels has seen 13 players who have come on trial, but not one has been signed. And he’s adamant that he is not going to fork out money unless he is confident of getting someone that is better that what he has.
