Special community get together to be held in Derry this week to support Great Big Walk Initiative

A special community get together is being held in Derry this week to support the Great Big Walk Initiative.
The Eden Project in partnership with the Boom Hall Partnership, Holywell Trust & Innovate-NI, with the support of Inner City Trust, are hosting a community get together to welcome and celebrate the renowned Derry Community spirit in support of the Great Big Walk Initiative. We’re asking Derry folk to get involved.
The event is being held on Thursday June 8th at The Garden of Reflection (at the rear of the Hollywell Trust building at Bishop Street) from 7-8pm.
A spokesperson for the event said: "Join us with your colleagues, families and friends for food and music to celebrate the efforts of the UK-wide Great Big Walk, an adventure which has seen five teams of walkers span the UK connecting people and celebrating community, highlighting the rich diversity of communities which make up the backbone of the UK, while demonstrating the commonality we all share.
"The walk aims to connect people and communities across the UK from 29 – 18 June 2017 and is all about making new friends, reaching out to others, and proving that small steps can make a BIG difference and together we can go the extra mile in this national movement for unity. Please feel free to extend this invitation and details of the event to your colleagues, family and friends.
"Having started in Batley, West Yorkshire on 29 May with a spectacular community send off. The Northern Irish walkers will gradually make their way to Belfast for the18th June and they will stop in Derry on 7-8 June for a celebration and community Get Together.
"The two Northern Ireland walkers are Olivia Cosgrove, the founder of Row the Erne and volunteer with Refugee Rescue, and Noel Johnston, who achieved the record for walking the Ulster Way in 28 days to raise money for charity and needy families.
