St Columb's College Young Guns make it two in a row!

NI Cup Final

St. Columb's College 2

St. Malachy's 1

St. Columb's College emerged victorious in a very intense final between two well-matched sides at the Danny Blanchflower Stadium yesterday.

In the first half, both teams cancelled each other out with neither team registering a shot on target. However, the game burst into life in the second half when Finn Campbell went on a typical, mazy run before being fouled. Finn being Finn, he quickly dusted himself down before unleashing an unstoppable drive into the corner of the net to send the travelling College fans into euphoria. However, St Malachy's also have an outstanding number seven in their ranks and he repeated Finn's feat five minutes later to draw the Belfast Giants level.

The game looked to be heading into extra-time but Alfie had other ideas. Seamus floated a free kick into the St Malachy's box and Alfie swivelled excellently, shooting first time, giving the St Malachy's 'keeper no chance to win the trophy for his team much to the delight of an outstanding travelling support who helped get their team over the line!
