Staff at ‘Ireland’s Highest Pub’ have launched a social media campaign in a bid to reunite a forgotten teddy bear with its special little friend, in time for Christmas. The battered, brown teddy bear was left behind at the Ponderosa Bar and Restaurant on December 7. Since then staff, who have nicknamed the cuddly toy ‘Teddy,’ have been posting pictures on their Facebook page, hoping to trace its owner. It has been just over two weeks since Teddy was discovered in the restaurant after lunch. Since then, Teddy has been busy helping staff and meeting new friends. As well as having a ball with Christmas parties, Teddy has stood in as head waiter for the day, performed on stage with local artists and even helped to clear snow along the Glenshane Pass. But with only three days left before Christmas Day, the pressure is on to find its owner. Ponderosa general manager, Judith McCreanor said that she is still hopeful the teddy and the child will be reunited before Christmas. She said: “The teddy was left behind on December 7, we think it belongs to a family from Donegal who were over visiting Santa, but we’re not sure. “It looks like Teddy has been taken everywhere as it is completely battered. It is obviously very special to someone. “Over the past two weeks, we have been posting pictures of Teddy doing different things onto our Facebook page, hoping to find its owners. “We have been getting great reaction to our ‘Get Teddy home for Christmas’ campaign. In the first few days we had over 7,000 views and lots of people have shared our posts but unfortunately we have received no word back about its owners. “We would just ask people to keep sharing our posts and hopefully this story will have a happy ending,” said Judith.
