Thanks for the memories - special event honours 2013 volunteers

A special event was held in Derry this evening to thank those involved in the 2013 City of Culture celebrations.

The event was hosted by the Culture Minister Carál Ní Chuilín who said 2013 had been an 'amazing year'.

“Now in 2014 it is time to look forward and translate the positive effects from the City of Culture into longer term benefits for the entire region.

“As well as a cultural programme, 2013 saw investment in infrastructure and the creative industries bringing new jobs and skills to the area.

"I am committed to continuing this momentum with the establishment of a new DCAL North West office and my Department now has a presence in Derry.

"My officials have been engaging across the City and the North West to talk to stakeholders and partners to ensure we maximise the impact of 2013 and new interventions.

“Work is progressing to establish a new delivery company which will provide support to cultural projects. My officials are planning the memorandum and articles of association for the company and preparing to launch the public appointments competition for the Board."
