The world is waking up to the news today that Donald Trump is expected to be the new President of the United States of America

Donald Trump is on the brink of becoming the new President of the United States.

In a stunning and largely unpredicted result, Trump appears to have beaten Hilary Clinton to take on the most important political job in the world.

The vast majority of pundits believed that Clinton would win the election following what has been described as the most divisive election campaign in American history.

Earlier last night after polling stations closed, the initial indications were for a Clinton victory as most results from the various states went to plan.

However, in the early hours, Trump supporters were jubilant after he won a number of key states, including North Carolina, Florida and Georgia.

This has helped him move towards the 270 electoral college votes needed to get him in to the White House.
