Hard As Oak have teamed up with Derry-based charity Children in Crossfire for two huge events next year.

The 10k challenge is said to be the ultimate obstacle course race and the hardest in Ireland.

Next year’s events are expected to attract at least 2,000 competitors to the Oaks Estate in the Faughan Valley on Saturday and Sunday, 25 and 26 June.

The course is expected to push entrants to the limit with 50 man-made and natural tests along the picturesque route.

Features of the race course include a cliff jump, slip’n’slide, gorge climb, swamp, mature woodland, walled gardens, marsh, lanes, gullies, paths, streams, rivers, trenches, fire jump, stone stairways and open fields.

Richard Allen, course director, said it was a “really good course.”

He added: “We built the site respecting what is naturally there - gorges, streams, old paths”.

Children in Crossfire’s JR McLaughlin paid tribute to Richard and the Hard as Oak Team who, he said, were “great to work with.”

JR added: “Their professionalism, enthusiasm, and attention to detail is impressive and is a reflection of their commitment to create the ultimate experience.

“Partnering with them also provides the opportunity for thousands of people here to help thousands of children around the world.”
