Two Derry sisters remanded after alleged family brawl involving cousin

Defence solicitor admits Derry siblings are 'not a great mix' as court hears details of the triple assault case
Two sisters have appeared at Derry Magistrate's Court today charged with assaulting each other and their cousin.
Cheyenne Campbell (20) of Mount Street in Derry was charged with, on August 17, two counts of assault causing actual bodily harm, one assault, criminal damage to a wing mirror and a glass fridge door and disorderly behaviour.
Simone Campbell (40) of John Street in Derry was charged with assaulting two females occasioning actual bodily harm and a disorderly behaviour charge all of which were alleged to have occurred on August 17.
There were three alleged injured parties and the assault charges were aggravated by way of domestic abuse.
There was no bail application for Cheyenne Campbell and she will appear again on September 9.
As regards Simone Campbell a police officer connected her to the charges and opposed bail.
He told the court the defendant had 26 previous convictions and three pending cases with the PPS.
The police officer said there was a risk of interference with witnesses and added he didn't believe she would adhere to bail conditions.
Defence solicitor Seamus Quigley said that the two sisters together 'were not a great mix' but he believed Simone Campbell could be managed by 'the stringest of bail conditions.'
District Judge Suzanne Rice said these were serious offences and added there was 'a significant risk of re-offending'.
Bail was refused and Simone Campbell will appear again on September 10.
