Vehicles checked in multi-agency operation

A number of vehicles were checked as part of a multi-agency traffic operation in the Maghera, Magherafelt and Cookstown areas on the night of Saturday, December 5.

Local PSNI officers, along with officers from DVA, randomly checked a number of vehicles as part of the proactive traffic safety operation.

Constable Aidan Rooney said: “This road safety operation demonstrated the condition of some vehicles using our roads. Of all the vehicles checked, 10 were issued with a prohibition notice, eight licences were suspended, one defect notice was issued, four fixed penalty notices were issued and three motorists will be reported for prosecution.

“We are committed to keeping our roads safe and that includes ensuring your vehicle is roadworthy,” said Constable Rooney.
