A 'very heavy sleeper' who didn't hear police knocking at his door has appeared in court for breaching his bail.

Sheagh Farrelly (20) of Patrick Street in Derry was charged with breaching his bail on January 14 by not presenting himself at the door when required.

A police officer said police attended Farrelly's address on another matter and received no reply to their knocking.

Farrelly then presented himself to police then next day and was arrested for breaching his bail.

The officer told the court that the electronic tag showed Farrelly was in the property at the time.

Defence solicitor Paddy MacDermott said that the offence was not presenting himself at the door when required.

He said it was simple case of the defendant being a heavy sleeper and not hearing the police.

He asked for bail to be granted again on the same terms.

Bail was granted again but District Judge Barney McElholm said this was 'a final warning'.

Farrelly will appear again on February 6.
