Fiachra McGuinness has made a public appeal to the community to elect Chris Hazzard as an MP.
McGuinness recounted how his father chose Chris Hazzard to be one of the ministers in what would be his last executive team. "He saw him rightly as one of a new generation of emerging Sinn Féin leaders," said Fiachra McGuinness.
"He put his faith in Chris and Chris didn't disappoint. As my father struggled with his illness in hospital, I will always remember the day the results started to come in from the Assembly election.
"From hospital, my Da watched history being made in Derry and of course South Down, where we overtook the SDLP by 6,000 votes. Now, we have the chance to build on that again," he said.
