Warning follows burglaries at Hampstead Park in Derry

Residents in the Greenhaw Road and Hampstead Park areas of Derry are being urged to be on the alert after a number of homes in the area were burgled..

Sinn Councillor Mickey Cooper said he had spoken to several residents who were “very concerned” following break-ins over the past week.

Cllr Cooper added: ”I would urge anyone who finds themselves in a similar situation or hears, sees anything suspicious outside their home to call the police straight away.

“Thieves have no respect for you or your property; helping to catch them is the best way of safeguarding your own property and your neighbours.”

Cllr Cooper concluded: “I would also appeal to anyone with information or who may have seen anything in their area to pass this to the PSNI. People like this cannot be allowed to prey on our community.”
