'You will keep your bail conditions or you will be in Maghaberry': Judge tells Derry man

A Derry man was today warned he would be jailed if he breaches his bail conditions again.
Pearse Starrs, from Mount Street in the Rosemount area, appeared at Derry Magistrates Court accused of failing to adhere to bail terms linked to a number of offences including assault occasioning actual bodily harm against a female on June 19 last.
The court heard it was his second breach of bail conditions in a matter of weeks.
Defence counsel Eoghan Devlin told the court the alleged injured party would be withdrawing her statement and it was likely the charges would be withdrawn.
He said she kept approaching the defendant to say she did not want to proceed with the case.
However, District Judge Anne Marshall pointed it was a serious matter that would normally result in the defendant “going into custody.”
Addressing Starrs, she said: "You will keep your bail conditions or you will be in Maghaberry."
Starrs was released on his own bail of £250 with the same conditions as before, aside from a change in address.
He will appear in court again on October 5.
