Young Derry girl has Late Late hopes

A young Derry girl is waiting to hear if she will get to appear on Ireland’s biggest TV show.
Cora Harkin, from Butlers Wharf in the Waterside area of the city, recently took part in an audition for the Late Late Show’s annual toy show.
The programme is consistently the most watched TV show in Ireland.
Last year, it attracted 1,594,000 viewers..
An important part of the show is performances from talented children from throughout Ireland.
Cora, who is seven years-old, beat off competition from thousands of young people to make it through to the audition stage.
She was encouraged to enter the competition by her drama teacher Jean Dunne at Showtimers Stage School.
Cora travelled to Sligo for her audition at which she performed two songs, Let it Go from the film Frozen and O Holy Night.
During the audition, Cora got to meet Ryan Turbidy, the host of the Late Late Show.
And she came home with a special present for her schoolmates – a request from Ryan to her principal for a homework pass for the entire school.
Cora’s dad, Emmett, said she was hopeful of making it on to the show.
“She auditioned well and we'll hear the results before the end of the month.
“Regardless we are delighted she made it this far and she had a great experience.”
