An Garda Síochána in Donegal say they are taking a "zero tolerance" to the dangerous use of vehicles in the county.

The warning came after Buncrana Gardaí observed a car being driven in a dangerous manner this week.

The driver failed to stop when signalled to do so. The car was stopped and it transpired that it was not taxed or insured. An arrest was made and the car was seized under Section 109(a) of the Road Traffic Act 1961. Under this legislation, in order to get your vehicle back, you must apply to the Judge of the District Court. Court proceedings will follow.

"We are enforcing a zero tolerance policy in relation to the dangerous use of and type of vehicle on the roads," gardaí said. "We are also enforcing a zero tolerance policy in relation to the use of uninsured vehicles on the roads. Never take unnecessary and dangerous risks where road safety is concerned.
