Buncrana man retracts guilty plea in Letterkenny assault case

A Buncrana man charged with two serious assaults in Letterkenny has resiled from a signed guilty plea.
Kevin Grant appeared at Letterkenny Circuit Court, where he confirmed that he did not affirm his guilty plea.
Grant, a 37-year-old, of Hilltown, Buncrana, had come forward from the District Court on signed pleas.
Grant was charged with assaulting two men and causing them harm at Main Street, Letterkenny, on September 23, 2023.
The charges are contrary to section 3 of the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act, 1997.
When asked by the court clerk if he affirmed his guilty plea, Grant replied: “I do not”.
Judge John Aylmer adjourned the case to the next session of the Circuit Court to allow a book of evidence to be served on Grant, who is represented by solicitor Mr Frank Dorrian.
