There was a number of vehicles taken off the road over the Bank Holiday

Buncrana Roads Policing Unit seized several vehicles over the Bank Holiday Weekend following a series of road traffic offences, including a car that had not been taxed in over two-and-a-half years.

Among those detected was a learner driver who was found driving while unaccompanied, in breach of the conditions attached to a learner permit.

Gardaí also seized vehicles that had no valid NCT, while others were found to have had their motor tax expired for a 1028 days. A number of uninsured vehicles were also taken off the road.

The Roads Policing Unit has reminded motorists that vehicles must not be used on public roads unless they are properly insured and all required documentation is valid and up to date.

Learner drivers have also been reminded that they must never drive while unaccompanied. The message from Gardaí is clear: “If a vehicle is uninsured or does not have the necessary legal documentation, it has no place on the road.”
