The drive brought together commercial drivers and local supporters to benefit Cancer Care West and the Irish Cancer Society.

A two-truck convoy hit the open road for the Irish Coastal Truck Run, completing a six-day journey in Letterkenny, one that took participants around the entire coast of Ireland for charity.

Event organisers Robert Brown from Milford and AnnaMarie Brogan from Creeslough led the initiative, directing community outreach and online fundraising throughout the journey. Members of the public were encouraged to donate, raising crucial funds to support cancer patients and their families across Ireland.

Eddie Lafferty from Buncrana joined Robert and AnnaMarie in the run, driving the truck solo around the coast.

Organised under the motto "One Coast, One Cause, Together We Can," the event brought together commercial drivers and local supporters to benefit Cancer Care West and the Irish Cancer Society.

The circuit began at the Mountain Top in Letterkenny. Over six days, participating haulers navigated a demanding route that took them through key coastal checkpoints in Westport, Killarney, Waterford, and Ashbourne, with the final leg from Belfast to Letterkenny.

“We planned this for around 6 or seven months,” Robert tells DonegalLive. “Everything went to plan, and it was a great run. I’m very happy with how it all turned out. We were very well treated, and the support from the public was great in the places we stopped. I would like to show thanks to Duffy Express Freight and Martin Boyle Haulage for supplying the trucks and paying for fuel expenses.”

Robert and AnnaMarie travelled in the Martin Boyle Haulage lorry, while Eddie from Buncrana did the run in the Duffy Express lorry.

Along the route, local trucking fleets and independent drivers joined the core convoy for regional stretches to show solidarity.

“We could only take two trucks because of their size,” Robert says, “but other trucks would join in a few miles along the journey.”

The GoFundMe is still open, titled The Irish Coastal Truck Run, and will be open until the end of next month. Donations can also be made through Revolut using the phone number 0831570112.
