Donegal priest targeted in email scam

Fr Colm O'Doherty has warned his parishioners after emails were circulated seeking gifts

A Donegal priest has been targeted in an elaborate email scam.

Emails, purporting to be from Lifford-based Fr Colm O’Doherty, have been circulated among parishioners.

Fr O’Doherty discovered that the emails, in his name, were seeking gifts and gift cards.

The Clonleigh Parish Priest has warned parishioners who may receive one of the scam emails.

“Please do not respond if you receive one of these requests as this is a scam.”

In a note to his parishioners, Fr O’Doherty confirmed that the matter has been reported to An Garda Siochana.
