The Donegal Lifeguards and local community are mourning the loss of Mister David Bowie, beloved honorary lifeguard dog and service animal, who passed away suddenly from cancer.
Bowie, who was originally rescued from the pound was a handsome and dedicated dog, he spent last summer patrolling nearly every beach in Donegal with the Donegal lifeguard team, bringing joy to all he encountered. His service extended far beyond the beach, however.
For over six years, Bowie volunteered as a therapy dog, bringing comfort to patients in Donegal hospice, local hospitals, respite care facilities, nursing homes, and special needs schools across Donegal. He was adored by everyone who had the pleasure to meet and cuddle him.

Bowie's adventures weren't limited to Donegal. He was a well-travelled dog, visiting much of Europe and the UK. He even graced the silver screen, appearing in several film productions and photo shoots, charming famous dog-loving actors.
Our lifeguard trainer Esther and her husband, family, friends and the local community, will miss him forever.
While all dogs are good dogs, Bowie was truly exceptional. He will be remembered for his bravery, strength, and love for everyone he ever met.
