Decision date set for November 12 for St Mary’s GAA Convoy application

Convoy’s St Mary’s GAA has sought planning permission from Donegal County Council to develop their clubhouse facilities and create new changing rooms.

The listed applicant, club chairperson Oliver Prunty, has submitted the application for an extension to the rear and side of the existing clubhouse consisting of new changing rooms, renovations within the existing changing rooms and sports hall to create a new social room and accessible toilets, the demolition of an external WC and tool shed attached to the building, and all other associated site development works.

St Mary’s GAA supports both their men’s and women’s teams, with both adult teams playing in their respective Junior A Championships.

Support documents submitted by DSM Consulting Engineers, on behalf of the clubs, stated: “St Mary’s GAA Convoy wish to apply for an extension and renovations to their existing clubhouse to create four new changing rooms and develop the existing clubhouse building.

“The club previously made an application for a new stand-alone building in 2021 which included changing rooms and a training/meeting room.

“After review, the club have decided not to go ahead with that development due to the construction costs of a new stand-alone building, the site area it would have consumed, which can now be used for additional parking and this proposed extension creates a better clubhouse where all activities are located within the one building.”

Donegal County Council has set a decision due date for the submitted planning application for November 12.
