The allocation for Donegal County Council is part of a €409 million funding package for almost 120 projects across the country
Donegal County Council has been allocated €14.7 million for four Letterkenny projects under the Towns and Cities Regeneration Investment Fund.
The Letterkenny Transport Hub is receiving €9 million, Letterkenny Cultural Corridor is getting €5.4 million, LK Green Connect Phase 2 is getting €150,000 while €150,000 has been earmarked for Into Letterkenny. The €14.7 million allocation for Donegal County Council is part of a €409 million funding package for almost 120 projects across the country.
Welcoming the announcement made by Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage, James Browne, Donegal Minister of State, Charlie McConalogue said: “This new Government investment is aimed at transforming town and city regeneration projects. I am particularly delighted that funding is being provided for a transport hub for Letterkenny.
“The Letterkenny Cultural Corridor is part of the broader LK Green Connect Initiative – the key venues being An Grianán Theatre, the Regional Cultural Centre and Donegal County Museum.
“Thanks to Minister Browne and his team and Donegal County Council for securing this funding and I look forward to all four projects getting underway. These local investments will help unlock regeneration, support new development, and make a difference for the people who live, work and raise their families in and around Letterkenny.
“These community-led projects are all about transforming Letterkenny’s town centre and making it more accessible and sustainable. When completed, they will make a massive difference to Letterkenny which has seen a huge level of ongoing government investment in a number of sectors.”
