Concerns have been raised about the safety of the newly constructed bicycle lane stretching from the Port Bridge in Letterkenny towards Drumnahoagh.

Aontú representative for Donegal, Mary T Sweeney, who received a photo of the current condition of the lane, described the surface as "extremely dangerous for pedestrians and cyclists", citing serious trip and fall hazards.

She has since forwarded the image to Donegal County Council, urging immediate action and repairs: “This should not be happening on a new stretch of infrastructure that cost taxpayers so much. It’s not just disappointing - it’s dangerous. This is a photo sent to me of the new €10million plus road, then plus more."

Members of the public are being advised to avoid the route until it is made safe.
