Letterkenny Tidy Towns to launch new Green Guide for residents

Gerard McCormick, Co-Chairperson for Letterkenny Tidy Towns explains: ‘We wanted to create something that people could pick up and use. There are so many simple things we can all do in our homes, gardens and everyday lives that can make a difference’
Letterkenny Tidy Towns will launch its new Green Guide for the Residents of Letterkenny at an event in the Mount Errigal Hotel on Tuesday, September 22, at 7.30pm.
The new guide has been created especially with Letterkenny residents in mind and is packed with practical tips, useful local information and simple ideas to help people make greener choices in their everyday lives.
From reducing food waste and recycling correctly to greener travel, saving energy at home, conserving water and making our gardens more wildlife-friendly, the guide shows that looking after our environment doesn’t always have to mean making big changes. Small actions, when taken together across our community, can make a real difference.
The guide also has a strong local focus, highlighting services and resources available right here in Letterkenny, including public transport options, recycling facilities, opportunities to buy and donate pre-loved items, and practical ways residents can support biodiversity in their own gardens and neighbourhoods.
Gerard McCormick, Co-Chairperson for Letterkenny Tidy Towns explains: “We wanted to create something that people could pick up and use. There are so many simple things we can all do in our homes, gardens and everyday lives that can make a difference. The Green Guide brings lots of that information together in one place, with a particular focus on Letterkenny. It will also be available online after the launch.
“Our message through #PowerofOneLK is that none of us has to do everything. If we all make one or two small changes, collectively those actions can have a much bigger impact.”
The Green Guide forms part of Letterkenny Tidy Towns’ ongoing work to encourage sustainability, protect biodiversity and help make Letterkenny a greener and more environmentally friendly place to live. The committee also acknowledges the many volunteers who give their time to help care for and improve Letterkenny.
The launch takes place at 7.30pm on Tuesday, September 22, in the Mount Errigal Hotel, and everyone is very welcome to come along, hear more about the project and pick up a copy of the new Green Guide.
