There has been a flood of support for the Bundoran councillor whose family home was targeted by anti-IPAS demonstrators while he was at the Ulster final

Former councillor Tom Conaghan has voiced his support for Cllr Michael McMahon and his family following the targeting of the family home by an anti-IPAS protest.

“I was very shocked and saddened to see this behaviour in Donegal, especially when they knew that he would most likely be at the match,” said Tom.

“Cllr McMahon is a decent man and one of the hardest working councillors in Donegal. He works very hard for Bundoran.

“Mickey has a heart of gold. He and his family do not deserve to be treated like this.”

There has been a massive outpouring of support for the councillor since the incident on Saturday evening, when a demonstration of 100+ protesters stopped outside his constituency office - which is at his family home - and used a loud hailer asking him to come out.

The councillor was not present, but his wife and members of his family were present.
