11 properties planned to be built off Ard Cois Locha housing estate

Planning permission is being sought from Donegal County Council for the erection of 11 houses in Creeslough.

The applicant, Charles Roarty, has submitted the planning permission application for the homes to be built to the immediate west of the Ard Cois Locha housing estate.

A similar application had been approved by Donegal County Council in April 2021.

Michael Friel Architects and Surveyors, on behalf of the applicant, provided a background to the application within documents submitted to Donegal County Council, stating: “The site is within the Town Settlement boundary of Creeslough village on a site where permission was previously granted for the erection of 11 residential units and connection to the Public Sewer, so the principle of providing Housing units on this site has been established.

“A Commencement notice was submitted to begin works on the site; however, Uisce Eireann advised when a connection application was made, there was no capacity within the Creeslough Sewerage Treatment Plant to accept the effluent which would be generated from the proposed development.

“The Department of Housing, local Government and Heritage have since taken steps which will see new wastewater systems being permitted for residential developments of up to 40 homes, and when the unit is commissioned, it will transfer to Uisce Éireann and become part of their stock.”

The statement also argued: “The Housing mix will allow for the Housing needs of persons in the Creeslough area to be met in an area which is served by footpaths, public lighting and road connection to the town of Creeslough.

“The development will be served by the existing play area, which has been developed by the applicant as part of the Ard Cois Locha development. Footpaths will be extended as per the details on the site layout plan, and traffic calming measures will be put in place to ensure that it will be a safe space for all road users.”

Donegal County Council has set a decision due date for the submitted planning application for August 17.
