Probation report ordered in case of Letterkenny man who became abusive to gardai
After being advised to leave the area, the 21-year-old defendant continued to be abusive to the gardai, Letterkenny District Court heard
A probation and welfare report has been ordered in the case of a young Letterkenny man who became abusive to gardai.
Conor Coyle was charged in connection with an incident on February 3, 2025 at Lower Main Street.
Sergeant Jim Collins told Letterkenny District Court that gardai approached an intoxicated male, now known to be Coyle, at 3.15am.
Coyle, a 21-year-old from Manorview Park, Long Lane, Letterkenny, told the officers to ‘do your fucking jobs’. After being advised to leave the area, Coyle continued to be abusive to the gardai.
There were a lot of people present at the time, the court heard.
Coyle was not present in court. His solicitor, Mr Patsy Gallagher, said his client had an appointment and was unable to be in attendance.
Mr Gallagher said his client has a history “that’s starting to grow” and said he was seeking a report on behalf of Coyle.
Judge Éiteáin Cunningham asked for the preparation of a probation and welfare report, to include an assessment of suitability for community service.
The case was adjourned until November.
