An orange weather warning for wind and a yellow warning for rain are in place for Donegal this weekend

Met Éireann has issued Donegal an orange weather warning for wind and a yellow rain warning for rain as Storm Boleo makes its way to the county.

The status orange wind warning is valid from 2 pm on Saturday, October 24, until 9 am on Sunday, October 25.

The warning from Met Éireann states “gale-force westerly winds with severe and damaging gusts” are to be expected, and residents should be prepared for damage to already weakened structures and powerlines.

Disruption and delays to public transport are also to be expected, along with fallen trees, large coastal waves, loose objects displaced, coastal flooding, and very difficult travelling conditions.

The yellow weather warning for rain is valid from 4 am on Saturday until 3 pm the same day, bringing spells of heavy rain that could lead to difficult travelling conditions and localised flooding.

Difficult conditions are expected on roads, with very challenging travelling conditions forecast during the warning period. Disruption and delays to public transport services, including buses, trains, flights and ferries, are also likely.
