A special meeting of Donegal County Council will take place today.

Cathaoirleach councillor Liam Blaney has called the meeting to discuss steps the Council can take to secure alternative accommodation immediately for families whose homes are worst affected by defective concrete blocks.

Last week, redress campaigners received confirmation from the Department of Housing that the worst affected homeowners would receive up to €20,000 in accommodation and storages grants. The grants will be issued through Council.

An update on a meeting with the Housing Minister is also being sought.
